(note: aquatic plant links are all to Buceplant, not necessarily because I bought each plant from them, but because they’re awesome)
foreground plants
- Dwarf Baby Tears (Hemianthus Callitrichoides ‘Cuba’) – just like Monte Carlo, but harder to grow.
- Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo’ (Micranthemum tweediei) – just like Dwarf Baby Tears, but easier to grow.
midground plants
- Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Pink Flamingo’ – This crypt melted immediately after I planted it. Don’t be fooled. New growth came back like crazy.
- Banana lily (Nymphoides aquatica)
- Bucephalandra ‘Purple Blue’ and ‘Godzilla’
- Golden Coins Anubias (Anubias barteri round)
background plants
- Anubias congensis
- Anubias barteri ‘Coffeefolia’
- Anubias nana
- Ammannia gracilis
- Brazilian pennywort (Hydrocotyle leucocephala)
- Water wisteria (Hygrophilia difformis)
floating plants
- Red root floaters (Phyllanthus fluitans)
- Water fern (Azolla filiculoides) – I put some of these guys in, realized 10 minutes later that I don’t like them, tried to get them all out, failed. Now there will always be a few bits of water fern hanging out in a crevice somewhere
terrestrial plants (you’re cool too, guys) (not AS cool tho)
How do you grow aquatic plants in a fish tank, Chris? Well. Do you have a 3D printer? You print some of these neat baskets I designed and then you hang them on the tank. Plants don’t care (for certain values of “plant”).
