The Trout Diary

Old Gravel's version (a fish story, exaggerated on purpose):

Dear Diary, today was a whirlwind of fin-tastic adventures! I held the seam a record-breaking number of times, fending off those pesky intruders and showing them who's boss. The roof was roaring, as usual, but I'm a master of navigating the turbulent waters. I heard a Sky-voice booming above, warning of an impending "catching frenzy" - I'm not worried, I've got my trusty rock company to keep me safe. Meanwhile, I overheard some juicy rumors from the riverbank: apparently, a giant lure was spotted lurking downstream, a school of minnows is planning a daring raid on the upstream pool, and a legendary fish with scales as black as coal is rumored to be hiding under the ledge, sipping on chocolate milk.P.S. Why don't trout play basketball? They're scared of the net.

The camera's version: The camera watched for 11.1 hours. First fish at 6:42 AM, last at 5:40 PM. 318 fish-minutes in all, busiest around 4 PM. Up to 5 fish in view at once. 464 feeding moves, 61 with food drifting in. A fish held the seam 163 times. The water stayed clear. Something spooked the fish 4 times (a shadow overhead). Visitors: Pebble (47 sightings), Finnegan (24 sightings), Speckles (1 sighting), plus 220 unidentified. 25 Sky-voice messages came in.

The river's fact-check:
